MOUNT VERNON – Cornell sophomore first baseman Kari Martin has been named to the 2013 Great Lakes All-Region Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
MOUNT VERNON – Cornell junior pitcher Jackie Sernek was selected to the all-tournament softball team at the NCAA Division III Pella Regional that concluded Sunday in Pella.
PELLA – Friday's showing was not indicative of the Cornell softball team that won 23 games and made noise the night before with a near-upset of No. 2 seed Central on its home field.
PELLA – First-time NCAA Division III qualifier Cornell pushed postseason veteran Central to the limit Thursday night before dropping a 1-0 eight-inning heartbreaker to the 16th-ranked Dutch in a rain-plagued first-round regional softball game at A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex.
MOUNT VERNON – NCAA Tournament-bound Cornell landed three players on the 2013 All-Midwest Conference Softball Team, headlined by South Division Co-Pitcher of the Year Jackie Sernek.
MOUNT VERNON – Cornell stays in-state to face a former Iowa Conference foe in the Rams' first trip to the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament later this week.
