Head Coach - 12th Season
Meeker, the 2012 Midwest Conference Coach of the Year, has taken the Cornell volleyball program to unprecedented heights in 11 seasons at the helm.
Meeker's 2012 senior-less Rams captured MWC regular-season and tournament titles and earned a second straight trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament, where they bowed out to eventual national champion St. Thomas in a five-set first-round battle on the Tommies' home floor. Cornell finished 20-11 and swept through the MWC with a perfect 10-0 mark.
The Rams fielded the 2012 MWC Player of the Year (Kathleen O'Connor) and had three others gain all-conference status. That brings Meeker's total to 17 all-conference players during his watch at Cornell.
Meeker owns a 198-164 record with the Rams, and sports a 259-229 mark in 15 seasons at the collegiate level. A two-time Iowa Conference Coach of the Year (2010, 2004), Meeker's teams have compiled a .671 winning percentage since 2009, reaching the 20-win mark three times during the span.
Meeker, a Mount Vernon native, steered the Rams to an outstanding 2011 campaign with a lineup headlined by freshmen and sophomores. Cornell finished 28-6 overall, cracked the regional rankings for the first time, won its first-ever IIAC Tournament title and carried a 14-match winning streak into its first NCAA Tournament.
The 2011 Rams posted the second-most wins in school history and compiled the highest season winning percentage (.823) since 1983. The team swept the league's top two individual honors in 2011 IIAC Player of the Year O'Connor and Freshman of the Year Taylor Dicus. O'Connor also became the program's first volleyball All-American.
Meeker garnered the league's top coaching honor in 2010 after guiding the Rams to a 17-17 overall mark and a school-best 6-2 record in IIAC play. Cornell claimed two first team All-IIAC performers (Hannah Boehmer, O'Connor) for the second year in a row, and also landed its first ever IIAC Freshman of the Year (O'Connor).
Meeker took the Rams to the IIAC Tournament nine times since 2002. He was tabbed IIAC Coach of the Year in 2004, when he led the Rams to a 23-13 record and runner-up finish in the conference tournament.
Meeker compiled a 61-68 record at Iowa Wesleyan College in his other head coaching stint from 1995-98.
Meeker, an instructor in Cornell's kinesiology department, received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Knox College in 1993. He earned a master's degree in sport psychology from the University of Iowa in 1995.
In 1993-94, Meeker was a volunteer assistant volleyball coach at the University of Iowa. He then enjoyed a successful four-year run as head coach at Iowa Wesleyan. Meeker revamped a program that won nine matches in his initial season to 20 wins in 1998. He was named Midwest Classic Conference Coach of the Year in 1997.
From 1999-2002, Meeker was an assistant men's volleyball coach at St. Ambrose.
Meeker has been head coach of the Iowa Region HP Junior Team the past four years. In July 2009, the elite squad competed at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Meeker and his wife, Monica, reside in Mount Vernon with their four children, Sydney, Jackson, Jayden and Jensen.
