MOUNT VERNON – Cornell junior libero Kylea Weber has been named Midwest Conference Volleyball Defensive Performer of the Week for the period ending Sept. 1.

This is the seventh career weekly conference honor for Weber, a first team All-MWC selection a year ago.

Weber was named to the all-tournament team at the season-opening Labor Day Classic Sunday in St. Louis, Mo. The Mount Vernon native led the Rams with 36 digs (5.14 dps) and went 34-of-36 from the service line with five aces in two matches. Weber had just one reception error in 45 attempts.

Weber collected a match-high 23 digs in Cornell's four-set loss to No. 7 Washington-St. Louis. She fired four aces in the team's 25-9, 25-11, 25-10 sweep of UW-Platteville.

The Rams (1-1) play host to the University of Dubuque at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Small Multi-Sport Center. Cornell received 25 votes in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Preseason Poll.
