AURORA, Ill. – Cornell surrendered a pair of goals midway through Sunday's match, which proved to be the difference in a 2-0 men's soccer loss against Aurora University at Vago Field.
The Rams dropped to 0-2 on a season-opening road trip in which they allowed just three total goals. Cornell is back in action Saturday, Sept. 7, with a 1 p.m. home match against MacMurray College (0-2).
Cornell's defense held its own against an Aurora attack that fired 30 shots, including 17 in the first half. Goalkeeper Jordan Setser collected six saves in 90 minutes of work.
The Spartans broke a scoreless battle at the 41-minute mark and led 1-0 at intermission. The hosts tacked on an insurance goal three minutes into the second half to complete the scoring.
The Rams were limited to three shot attempts. Sam Stacy, Nolan Howe and Christian Wright had one shot apiece.
