MOUNT VERNON – Cornell College had 91 student-athletes representing 16 sports on the Academic All-Midwest Conference Teams for the 2012-13 season.

The MWC recognized 1,234 total student-athletes from 11 institutions, including 270 multi-sport winners. To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have attained a 3.33 grade point average – calculated only in the awarded academic year – and earned a varsity letter in one of the MWC's 20 intercollegiate sports.

 

The Rams landed 36 all-academic selections during the fall, 26 in the winter and 29 in the spring. Cornell had a program-best eight honorees each in women's soccer, women's basketball, women's indoor track and field and softball. Football and women's outdoor track and field came in with seven selections apiece.

 

Cornell's list of fall recipients are, women's soccer: seniors Julie Alba, Brianna Meeks, juniors Zauditu Kaza-Amlak, Kendra Wisely, Rachel Aubry, freshmen Sarah Calhoun, Christina Rueth and Chloe Weston; football: junior Jeffery Bollnow, sophomores TJ Gray, Kincade Kiger, Alex Latow, Myron Seabrook, Brennan Stine, and freshman Martin Arispe; men's soccer: senior Alex Beehler, juniors Luke Farley, Tanner Stirrat, sophomores Jeremy Kaden, James Thompson and Adam Westerby; women's cross country: seniors Maria Helgeson, Leslie Smebak, sophomore Kristen Fernandez-Kong and freshman Laura Wetzel; men's cross country: seniors Scott Hageman, Jordan Kemme, junior Carsen Kuesel and sophomore Lawrence Dennis; women's tennis: seniors Kara Middleton, Alyssa Zavislak, Samantha de Gannes and junior Claudia Landsman; volleyball: juniors Rachel Henning, Katie Sickelka and freshman Jessica Noble.

 

The winter honorees include, women's basketball: seniors Camille Marie, Leonie de Jonge, Kathryn Schilling, junior Chelsea Harris, sophomore Kelly Oeltjenbruns, freshmen Maggie Hogen, Kellie Kuzmanic and Larissa Brewer; women's indoor track and field: seniors Maria Helgeson, Leslie Smebak, Brianna Meeks, junior Melissa Kraker, sophomore Kristen Fernandez-Kong, freshmen Katie Gilbert, Clare McCarthy and Larissa Brewer; men's indoor track and field: seniors Scott Hageman, Jordan Kemme, Brad Cox, juniors Carsen Kuesel, Jackson Engstrom and sophomore Lawrence Dennis; men's basketball: juniors Joey Guth, John Srodulski, Alec Winzenried and David Fischer.

 

The Ram spring winners are, softball: seniors Kerbee Koehler, Brittani Yost, juniors Amanda Engel, Abby Haubold, sophomores Stephanie Kerbel, Kari Martin, freshmen Lauren Hunter and Kyra Koehler; women's outdoor track and field: seniors Maria Helgeson, Leslie Smebak, junior Melissa Kraker, sophomore Kristen Fernandez-Kong, freshmen Katie Gilbert, Clare McCarthy and Larissa Brewer; men's outdoor track and field: seniors Scott Hageman, Jordan Kemme, juniors Carsen Kuesel, Jackson Engstrom and sophomore Lawrence Dennis; baseball: senior Jim Nowak, junior Jacob Fields, sophomores Chris Rana, Tyler Thorne and freshman Kenny Capesius; men's tennis: senior Garrett Russikoff, junior Joseph Gelfand, sophomore Ben Williamson and freshman Thomas Weiss.
