MOUNT VERNON – Cornell senior shortstop Zach Rogers has been named to the Team of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

The award comes one day after the Cedar Rapids native was honored as Midwest Conference Performer of the Week. It's been that kind of a banner season for Rogers, who batted .481 with 17 RBIs, nine runs, seven extra-bases hits and a whopping 1.000 slugging percentage in seven games.

Rogers became Cornell's single-season leader for most triples (7) and RBIs (49). He climbed to fourth place on the program's career list for hits (170) and RBIs (88), and eighth for runs (86).'s weekly honor roll recognizes the top performers at each of the nine positions. Rogers was voted on at shortstop. A complete list of this week's honorees can be found at Team of the Week.

Rogers and the Rams (10-21 overall, 5-7 MWC) entertain postseason hopes this weekend as they wrap up MWC play with a four-game series with Monmouth (7-23, 3-9 MWC). The teams play a doubleheader at 12 p.m. Saturday in Mount Vernon, before heading to Monmouth, Ill., for two games Sunday starting at 12 p.m.

Cornell needs to win all four games to have a shot at an MWC Tournament berth.
