MOUNT VERNON – Inclement weather has postponed Cornell's two softball doubleheaders this weekend, and wiped out half of a four-game baseball series in Altoona
Cornell's home softball doubleheader with Wartburg (4-10) has been rescheduled for April 10 with first pitch at 4:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Softball Complex. The Rams (5-4) were slated to play 19th-ranked Coe (13-1) Sunday in Cedar Rapids. That doubleheader has been moved to April 23 at 4:30 p.m., and will now be played in Mount Vernon.
Saturday's baseball doubleheader between Cornell (2-5) and Presentation (5-9) in Altoona is on as scheduled, starting at 1 p.m. The two teams were scheduled to play a pair of seven-inning games Sunday in Altoona. That doubleheader has been canceled.
Cornell's softball team, which last played on March 14 in Clermont, Fla., looks to end a lengthy layoff March 30 in the Midwest Conference opener against Beloit in Beloit, Wis. The Rams are the preseason favorites to win the MWC South Division.
Coach Seth Wing's baseball team travels to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome Monday to play St. Mary's (7-5) in a doubleheader at 7 p.m. in Minneapolis.
