MOUNT VERNON – Senior Garrett Russikoff became the program's second 100-match winner as Cornell's unbeaten men's tennis team went 3-0 in dual play over the weekend.
In Saturday's double dual, the Rams (5-0) rolled to a 7-2 victory over St. Ambrose and then beat undermanned Ripon, 8-1. Cornell capped a perfect performance with a 7-2 win Sunday over Midwest Conference North Division foe Lake Forest.
Russikoff, of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., notched his 100th career win in Saturday's 8-2 doubles triumph with Tyler Shonkwiler over St. Ambrose's top tandem. Russikoff tacked on three singles victories, moving his overall career record to 103-79.
Russikoff is fast approaching the program's all-time wins mark of 109, set by Austin Reed from 1999-02. Russikoff is 9-4 on the season, including 6-1 in singles competition.
The Rams won 16 of 18 singles matches in the three duals. Cornell received three wins each from Russikoff at No. 1/2, Justin Bradfield at No. 2/3, Joseph Gelfand at No. 3-5 and Thomas Weiss at No. 5/6. Russikoff, Bradfield and Gelfand all extended personal winning streaks to five matches in singles play.
Weiss, a freshman, posted a 2-0 record at No. 3 doubles. Bradfield finished 2-1 in doubles, competing at the No. 2 and 3 spots in the lineup.
