MOUNT VERNON – Coach Dan Schofer leads the Rams into their first Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships since 1997 this weekend at Monmouth College.
The Championships get underway at 3 p.m. Friday inside King Field House. Action resumes at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The top three finishers in each event earn all-conference status.

The Rams field a number of all-conference hopefuls, led by junior distance runner Laura Ettlin on the women's side. Ettlin holds the third-best mark in the MWC in both the mile (5:17.39) and 3000 (10:36.96). The women also enter with the No. 3 time in the distance medley relay (13:19.26).
Sophomore Madison Acree heads the field events, ranking third in the weight throw (48-1.95) and seventh in the shot put (39-1.29). Kristen Fernandez-Kong is sixth in the 800 (2:27.56).
The Cornell men have contenders in the high jump with freshmen Ra'Shad Green (second, 6-4.77) and Kenny Smith (fifth, 6-0.83). Smith holds the fifth-best mark in the triple jump (41-7.21).
The men's distance medley (11:15.08) has clocked the third-quickest time in the MWC this season, while the 4x200 ranks fourth (1:33.28).
Sophomore Preston Ritchie stands fifth in the 60 (7.20), followed by Brennan Stine in seventh (7.24). Stine is also sixth in the 200 (22.83) and seventh in the 400 (51.55).
Monmouth has swept both men's and women's indoor team titles each of the past 11 years.
