MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell-Grinnell Midwest Conference basketball doubleheader Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Mount Vernon will be televised statewide on the Mediacom Connections Channel (MC22).
The women's game tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 7 p.m. in Cornell's Small Multi-Sport Center.
Both games will be shown on a tape-delayed broadcast on Thursday, Jan. 10. The women's game will air at 8 p.m., and the men's game at 10 p.m.
Calling the play-by-play will be Rob Brooks. He'll be alongside color analyst Jerry Kiwala.
The 23rd-ranked Cornell women (12-0 overall, 7-0 MWC) puts its perfect record on the line against a Pioneer squad that stands 5-6 overall, 4-3 in the MWC.
The Rams are coming off a 74-66 road win Saturday over Lake Forest. Sophomore Rikki Mulloy led the way with 22 points. Freshman Kellie Kuzmanic added 17 points and seven rebounds for Cornell.
The Cornell men (5-7 overall, 4-3 MWC) take on the run-and-gun offense of Grinnell (8-3 overall, 5-2 MWC) that leads the nation in scoring at 122.6 points per game. The Pioneers are locked in a four-way tie atop the MWC standings, one game ahead of the Rams.
The Rams got 20 points from junior Joey Guth in a 69-67 overtime victory Saturday at Lake Forest. Reggie Greenwood pitched in 14 points, including a buzzer-beating putback that forced overtime.
