GRINNELL – Cornell couldn't get its offense going in 1-0 men's soccer loss to Midwest Conference competitor Grinnell Wednesday afternoon.

The Rams (4-6-1 overall, 2-2 MWC) had a tough afternoon on the offensive side against a Pioneer squad (5-6-1, 3-1 MWC) that is tied for the most wins in league play.

Cornell goalkeeper Jerome Richards (JR/Urbandale, Iowa) notched four saves on the afternoon and held the Pioneers to their lone goal despite facing the goals scored and points leader in the MWC.

Grinnell's marker came in the 13th minute of the match on a penalty kick.

The Ram offense was limited to one second-half shot attempt by a stout Pioneer defense.

Richards spent all 90 minutes in goal for Cornell.

Coming up – Cornell returns home Tuesday to square off with MWC opponent Monmouth (2-8, 1-2 MWC) at 4:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
