MOUNT VERNON – Cornell hung within striking distance of undefeated Coe for more than 75 minutes Wednesday before falling 5-2 in a Bremner Cup women's soccer match at home.

Sophomore Sofia Schnur (SO/Redwood City, Calif.) registered her first two collegiate goals, the first which caromed off the post that gave Cornell (0-5) a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. The Kohawks (6-0) knotted the score at the 18-minute mark and the match remained 1-1 at halftime.

The Kohawks pushed ahead 3-1 early in the second half, although Schnur gave the Rams a chance with another unassisted goal at the 63-minute mark, cutting the margin to 3-2.

Coe pulled away with two markers in the final 13 minutes of regulation to secure a point in the 2017-18 Bremner Cup All-Sport Series.

The Ram offense put up seven shots, three off the foot of Elizabeth Mombello (JR/Overland Park, Kan.). Schnur converted both of her shot attempts.

Goalkeeper Nell Rosenthal (SO/Wheaton, Ill.) faced 19 shots from the Kohawks, saving five over the 90 minutes.

Coming up – The Rams play host to Webster University (4-0) Friday for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
