Ram women fight but fall to Coe

MOUNT VERNON. – The Rams dropped a tough match to rival Coe on Wednesday afternoon, falling 6-3.

The match started off promising as Cornell (2-4) took two out of three doubles matches. The No. 2 pairing of Abbey Nelson (SO/Glen Ellyn, Ill.)/Gabriella Ferro (SR/Kansas City, Mo.) and the No. 3 pairing of Janice Elkerton (JR/North Branch, Minn.)/Megan Pope (SO/Chowchilla, Calif.) both took their respective matches, 8-3.

The mood turned as Coe (1-2) took five out of the six singles matches. Cornell's lone win came at No. 4 from Ferro as she dominated the court, winning 6-3, 6-0.

This was the 5th match as Cornell looks to repeat as Bremner Cup champs. Coe now leads 3-2.


Coming up – Cornell heads on the road for three conference matches, starting against Knox at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 16. The Rams will then head to Monmouth and Illinois College to finish out the road trip.
