Abbey Nelson (SO/Glen Ellyn, Ill.) completed the sweep with a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 2.

The Rams competed hard against Lake Forest (5-1, 1-1 MWC), projected to finish second in the MWC preseason poll. Cornell got off to a strong start, taking two out of three doubles matches. The doubles win was sealed by No. 1 pairing of Thome/Ruiz coming out on top 8-6.
