MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's impressive start to the 2017 volleyball season generated more accolades Wednesday with outside hitter Libby Schnoor (SR/Camanche, Iowa) and middle blocker Nicole Ciari (JR/San Jose, Calif.) sweeping Midwest Conference individual awards.

Schnoor was selected MWC Offensive Performer of the Week, and Ciari the league's top defensive performer for the period ending Sept. 3.

Schnoor, tabbed Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week on Tuesday, earned all-tournament honors at the Bear Invitational during which the Rams went 4-0, headlined by a pair of wins over nationally-ranked foes in No. 3 Wash U. and No. 20 Hendrix.

Schnoor hit .431 for the tournament while averaging a hefty 5.27 kills per set to go with 2.93 digs. The 5-foot-10 senior set Cornell's single-match record with 30 kills in a five-set win over Dominican. Schnoor established career highs with 19 digs against both Wash U. and Dominican.

Schnoor connected for 22 kills on .378 hitting in the upset of host Wash U., the highest-ranked opponent the Rams have ever defeated.

Ciari paced the Rams with 12 total blocks (0.80 bps) over the two-day tournament. The junior averaged 2.6 digs, served six aces and also collected 39 kills (2.6 kps).

Ciari more than doubled her previous career high with 21 digs in the Dominican match, where she also slammed 14 kills. She accounted for four blocks against Wash U.

The No. 19 nationally-ranked Rams (4-0) face Dubuque (4-0) in Wednesday's home opener inside the Small Multi-Sport Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
