MOUNT VERNON – Cornell defensive end Andrew Joseph (SR/New Orleans, La.) has been selected to the Defensive Team of the Week after a record-setting performance in Saturday's 62-25 home rout of Iowa Wesleyan.

Joseph was among three linemen chosen to's 11-player defensive unit for Week 1.

Joseph was a force against the Tigers, collecting a game-high 12 tackles with nine solo stops. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound senior tallied 2.5 tackles for loss and finished with one sack.

With that effort, Joseph became Cornell's career leader in tackles for loss with 44.0. The mark was 42.0 and previously shared by Chris Gustafson (2004-07), Brett Murdock (1998-01) and Chet Knake (1999-02).

Joseph helped the Ram defense allow just six points and 189 total yards in the second half as Cornell pulled away. The Rams came away with five turnovers in the game.

Cornell (1-0) travels to play Coe (1-0) for a 1 p.m. Bremner Cup game Saturday at Clark Field in Cedar Rapids.
