ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Cornell's volleyball team picked off another nationally-ranked opponent and then rallied past a second foe Saturday to finish an impressive 4-0 at the season-opening Bear Invitational.

The Rams were tough offensively in a convincing 25-12, 25-20, 25-22 sweep over 20th-ranked Hendrix, which advanced to the second round of last year's NCAA Division III Tournament. Cornell wrapped up the day by overcoming a 2-1 deficit to defeat Dominican 20-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-9.

Cornell (4-0), which upended third-ranked host Wash U. on Friday, was the only team to go unbeaten in the tournament.

Libby Schnoor (SR/Camanche, Iowa) and Jillian Schulte (JR/Naperville, Ill.) represented the Rams on the all-tournament team. Schnoor posted a whopping 5.27 kills per set and .431 hitting percentage, while Schulte averaged 10.6 assists in four matches.

Schnoor capped an outstanding weekend with a school-record 30 kills in the Dominican match, breaking the previous mark of 29 set by teammate Diamond Boyd (SR/Elk Grove Village, Ill.) in 2014. The senior outside hitter hit .381 and also tallied 19 digs.

Nicole Ciari (JR/San Jose, Calif.) and Barbie Becker (SO/Auburn, Wash.) collected 14 and 12 kills, respectively, with Ciari achieving a double-double with a match-best 21 digs. Schulte distributed 54 assists, a new career high.

The Rams used a 9-2 spurt to pull away from Dominican in the fifth set, sparked by five straight service points from Ciari.

Cornell compiled a hefty .363 attack percentage against Hendrix, committing only six hitting errors the entire match. Boyd led the attack with 10 kills, followed by Schnoor's nine kills and .692 hitting.

Ciari provided seven kills and four total blocks, sharing team-high honors with Schulte. Schulte had 25 assists.

The Rams fired 13 service aces against Hendrix, with eight different players contributing to that category.

Coming up – The Rams play host to the University of Dubuque Wednesday night in the Small Multi-Sport Center. Action starts with a JV match at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7:30 p.m.
