MOUNT VERNON – For the fifth consecutive year, Cornell's volleyball team has been recognized for academic excellence by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

The Rams received the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 season, joining Monmouth as honorees from the Midwest Conference. This is the 12th time in 15 seasons Cornell has earned the award under head coach Jeff Meeker.

The AVCA award, initiated in 1992-93, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average during the academic year. A record 822 programs were recognized across the country, including 150 women's teams in NCAA Division III.

A complete list of 2016-17 award winners can be found at AVCA Academic Awards.
