MOUNT VERNON – Cornell junior midfielder Sydney Cooper (JR/Morton, Ill.) has been named an honorable mention selection on the 2017 All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Teams, it was announced Thursday by the league office.

Freshman defender Brittney Starks (FR/Steamboat Springs, Colo.) represented the Rams on the MWLC All-Sportsmanship Team, comprised of one player from each of the 12 conference institutions.

Cooper led the Rams in scoring for the third consecutive season, raising her school-record career total to 105 points. She accumulated 45 points this spring with 39 goals and six assists.

Cooper finished eighth in the MWLC with 54 ground balls and also paced the team in draw controls (33) and caused turnovers (16). She netted two game-winning scores and delivered at least one goal in 15 of the team's 16 matches.

Cooper posted a season-best six goals in MWLC matches against Monmouth and Wartburg. She'll enter her senior season with 91 career goals.

Starks started all 16 matches in her first season with the Rams. The freshman totaled nine points (7 goals) and finished fourth on the team with 19 draw controls.

Coach Meredith Merce's squad finished 2-14 overall, highlighted by early-season wins over Concordia-Chicago (10-9) and Olivet (19-2). The third-year program went 1-10 in MWLC play.
