BELOIT, Wis. – Cornell's women's basketball team wasn't in a sharing mood on this Valentine's Day.

The Rams grabbed the Midwest Conference regular-season championship all for themselves with Tuesday's 71-53 rout of Beloit inside Flood Arena.

Cornell (18-4 overall) moved to 16-1 in league play and captured the title outright with one game remaining. It's the program's third outright conference championship, joining the 2012-13 and 1979-80 squads. The Rams were MWC co-champions two other times (2013-14 and 1981-82).

The Rams will host the MWC Tournament Feb. 24-25 and learned of their semifinal opponent after Grinnell (13-9 overall, 11-6 MWC) locked up the No. 4 seed with a 59-53 road win over Knox.

Cornell and Grinnell will square off at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24 in the Small Multi-Sport Center. St. Norbert and Ripon will meet in the 7 p.m. semifinal.

Cornell put away the Buccaneers (6-16 overall, 4-13 MWC) early and wound up shooting a season-best 52.0 percent from the field, which included an 8-of-15 night from 3-point range. Sierra Bisso (SR/Wheaton, Ill.) buried four treys and finished with a game-high 14 points. She also led the team with four assists and three steals.

Madie Rinehart (SR/Scottsdale, Ariz.) registered her first career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in only 16 minutes of action. The senior did all her scoring in the first half as the Rams built a 39-23 lead at the break.

Diamond Boyd (SR/Elk Grove Village, Ill.) delivered 13 points, five rebounds and four assists. Anne Visser (FR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) added 12 points and a pair of 3-pointers.

Cornell dominated the Bucs on the boards, 38-22. The Rams snared 13 offensive rebounds, five coming from Rinehart.

Bisso hit a 3-pointer just 10 seconds into the contest and the Rams never trailed the rest of the way.

Coming up – Cornell concludes the regular season Saturday with a 1 p.m. tipoff at Monmouth (4-18 overall, 4-13 MWC). The Rams beat the Scots last week, 80-46.
