MOUNT VERNON – Grant Anderson (SR/Homewood, Ill.) set the tone on his Senior Day with 19 first-half points as Cornell cruised to an 80-57 victory over Knox in Midwest Conference men's basketball action Saturday inside the Small Multi-Sport Center.

The Rams (8-11 overall, 6-8 MWC) stayed mathematically alive in the postseason hunt with their second lopsided win over the Prairie Fire this season, after beating them by 30 points on Jan. 7.

Anderson knocked down six 3-point goals and led all scorers with 27 points, two shy of his career-best. He and RT Mould (SR/Minneapolis, Minn.), who had four points in his first career start, were recognized prior to tipoff as the team's two seniors.

Cornell's Jon Anderson (JR/Mexico, Mo.) made his presence felt inside with 20 points, 13 rebounds, three blocked shots and a handful of dunks. The junior made 9-of-14 field goals in posting his fourth double-double.

Point guard Corey Davis (JR/Glendale Heights, Ill.) notched his double-double the unconventional way with 13 points and 13 assists, to only two turnovers. He came within two assists of his single-game school record set earlier this season.

Cornell's offense was clicking early, shooting 56.3 percent in the first half while building a 47-33 advantage at the break. Knox (1-18 overall, 1-13 MWC) cut the margin to single digits once in the second half, only to see the Rams blow it back open with an 18-3 spurt.

The Rams dominated the boards, 37-28, and had just eight turnovers to Knox's 16. Cornell held a 44-26 advantage in points scored in the paint.

Cornell finished the game shooting 50.8 percent from the floor.

Marko Protic paced the Prairie Fire with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Coming up – Cornell takes on Monmouth (6-13 overall, 6-8 MWC) in Wednesday's home finale at 7:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon. The teams will play twice over the final 11 days of the regular season.
