FRANKLIN, Ind. – Cornell's men's basketball team netted 50 second-half points, but couldn't slow down hot-shooting Franklin College Thursday night in a 101-88 road loss.

The Rams (3-6 overall) came up short in their final nonconference contest, despite canning 27 free throws (on 38 attempts) and putting six scorers in double figures. Cornell also committed a season-low six turnovers, although couldn't overcome a 58.1-percent shooting game by the Grizzlies (4-5).

Corey Davis (JR/Glendale Heights, Ill.) accounted for all 20 of his points in the second half to fuel a big Ram rally after intermission. Cornell, which trailed by 23 points with less than 15 minutes to play, cut the margin to 80-79 on a conventional 3-point play by Davis with 8:12 remaining.

The Grizzlies responded with eight unanswered points and stayed in control the rest of the way. Franklin's lead never dropped below five points over the final seven minutes.

Davis, who hit 8-of-12 field goals in the second half, also registered four assists and four steals. The junior point guard became the sixth player in school history to total 300 assists in a career, currently with 303.

Brad Hund (JR/Joliet, Ill.) delivered his third career double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. He also dished four assists. Jon Anderson (JR/Mexico, Mo.) and Jan Siegien (SO/Northbrook, Ill.) pitched in 14 points apiece, while Grant Anderson (SR/Homewood, Ill.) and Craig Engle (SO/Marion, Iowa) both scored 13.

Jon Anderson added eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Engle went 8-of-8 from the foul line.

Franklin shot 62.5 percent from the field in the opening half and took a 50-38 lead into intermission. The Grizzlies finished with 11 3-point goals, six coming from Robbie Prather who led all scorers with 25 points.

Coming up – The Rams (1-3 Midwest Conference) return to league play Jan. 4 for a 7:30 p.m. home game against Illinois College (3-6 overall, 0-4 MWC).
