MOUNT VERNON – Five Cornell College players have been recognized on the 2014 USA College Football Division III Preseason All-America Teams, highlighted by a pair of first team selections in seniors Myron Seabrook and Sam Cluck.

Seabrook, a three-year starting defensive back, landed on the first team as a return specialist. Cluck, a mainstay at left tackle, earned a spot on the first team offensive line.

The Rams had two second team honorees in senior wide receiver Brit Connor and senior offensive lineman Troy Bedard. Junior Ben Knake was voted to the third team at wide receiver.

The Rams and Midwest Conference newcomer Macalester each fielded a league-high five preseason all-America selections. A total 25 players were honored from the MWC, including six first-teamers.

Seabrook and Cluck both received first team all-MWC accolades in 2013. Seabrook averaged 9.4 yards on 22 punt returns, while also leading the team with four interceptions – including one for a touchdown – from his cornerback position.

Cluck keyed a Ram offense that averaged 33.3 points and 435 yards per game last fall. Cornell had nine individual 100-yard rushing performances.     

Connor enjoyed a strong junior campaign in which he totaled 30 receptions for 374 yards and three touchdowns. He was named second team all-conference last fall. Bedard was voted honorable mention all-conference after starting all 10 games at center.    

Knake, a 2013 First Team All-MWC pick, posted a team-best 54 receptions and 656 yards with five touchdowns. He tied for the league lead with 6.0 receptions per game.  

The Rams are coming off a fine 7-3 season in which they tied for second in the MWC standings at 7-2. Cornell opens the 2014 campaign on Sept. 13 against rival Coe. The 7 p.m. kickoff will mark the first-ever night game at Ash Park Stadium.
