MOUNT VERNON – Cornell's men's tennis team came up one point short for the second straight home meet, falling 5-4 to Grand View University Wednesday night in the Small Multi-Sport Center Arena.
Senior Joseph Reyes continued his solid play with two wins for the Rams, who moved to 5-10 on the season. Grand View improved to 5-7.
Reyes teamed with Ben Williamson for an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles. The Rams won three singles matches, including a 6-4, 6-2 decision by Reyes at the No. 4 position.
Sophomore Thomas Weiss rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. With his third straight victory, Weiss climbed to 8-7 on the season.
The Rams also received a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win from No. 6 singles player Nolan Schillerstrom. Joseph Gelfand at No. 1, and Williamson at No. 3, both fell in three sets.
Coming up – Cornell travels to play the University of Dubuque at 5 p.m. Friday. The Rams are back home Saturday to face Simpson at 4 p.m.
