MOUNT VERNON – Cornell junior Taylor Dicus has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dicus, of Mount Vernon, was among eight players recognized on the NCAA Division III First Team in District 8. Click here for a complete list of academic all-district winners.

As a first team honoree, Dicus advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America awards. All-Americans in Division III will be announced Feb. 18.

Dicus is a kinesiology major. She carries a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.

The all-academic teams are comprised of the nation's top student-athletes for their performances in the classroom and athletically. To be eligible for consideration, the nominee must be a starter or important reserve, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3.

Dicus is enjoying a strong season for the surging Rams (14-3 overall), who have won six straight and are tied atop the Midwest Conference standings with a 10-2 mark. The 6-foot-2 post averages 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds – both team highs – and has recorded six double-doubles. Dicus entered the week seventh in Division III with a 61.9 field goal percentage. She is shooting at a 79.7-percent clip from the foul line.

Dicus already stands seventh on Cornell's career list for rebounds (596) and 15th for points (748). She earned second team all-MWC honors in 2012-13, and has twice been named MWC Performer of the Week this season.

Dicus and the defending MWC champion Rams return to action Saturday for a 4 p.m. home game with Beloit in the Small Multi-Sport Center.
