APPLETON, Wis. – Senior Zauditu Kaza-Amlak assisted on three goals as the Cornell women posted their sixth shutout of the season, 3-0 over Lawrence Sunday at Whiting Field West.

The Rams (8-8-1 overall, 3-5-1 Midwest Conference) rebounded from Saturday's 7-1 setback to MWC regular-season champion St. Norbert in De Pere, Wis. Cornell's eight wins are the most in a season since 2008.

Senior midfielder Kendra Wisely got the Rams off on the right foot against Lawrence (5-9-1, 3-5-1 MWC), scoring the first of her two goals just 58 seconds into the match. Kaza-Amlak assisted on the quick strike.

Kaza-Amlak fed high-scoring freshman Bethany Stivers for another goal in the 26th minute to make it 2-0. It was Stivers' 15th goal and 38th point of the fall.

Cornell added insurance in the second half, with Wisely connecting at the 72-minute mark. Her fourth goal of the year was assisted by Kaza-Amlak and Victoria Rothe. Kaza-Amlak increased her season assist total to six, tied for third on the team.

The Rams outshot the Vikings 12-2 in the first half, and 20-9 for the match. Chelsea Harris went the distance at keeper and recorded six saves.

The Rams opened the weekend with a tough task at St. Norbert (12-3-2, 8-1 MWC). The Green Knights gained early control with five first-half goals and held a 23-9 advantage in total shots.

Freshman Jennifer Strebeck accounted for Cornell's goal – her third of the season – on an assist from Victoria Rothe at the 74-minute mark.

Alex Place and Wisely each had two shots to lead the Rams. Harris finished with 12 saves in 90 minutes.

St. Norbert's Katie Vanden Avond had four goals in the match, setting a new MWC single-season record with 31.

Coming up – The Rams will shoot for their first winning season in 11 years when they travel to Beloit (3-13-1, 1-7-1 MWC) Saturday, Nov. 2, for the MWC finale. The match starts at 1 p.m. in Beloit, Wis.
