INDIANOLA – The Cornell women's tennis team had five players record a win in Tuesday's 6-3 nonconference triumph over Simpson at Buxton Tennis Complex.
Freshman Shashanna Moll picked up a pair of victories at the top of the lineup and stretched her overall winning streak to six matches. Ariana Hudson and Heather Schrauth were also two-time winners for Cornell, which improved to 3-7 in dual competition.
Moll beat Simpson's No. 1 player Lauren Schemmel in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. She improved to 3-0 on the year from the No. 1 singles slot.
Hudson rolled 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, and Schrauth won by an identical score at No. 5. Veronika Reidel added a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 6 singles.
Moll and Hudson won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles for their fourth straight victory. The Rams also posted an 8-4 win from Anne Seng and Schrauth at the No. 3 position.
Simpson dipped to 1-12.
Coming up – The Rams hit the road for three duals this weekend. Cornell travels to Mequon, Wis., Saturday for meets against Milwaukee School of Engineering at 10 a.m., and Concordia at 2 p.m. The Rams visit Carroll Sunday at 10 a.m. in Waukesha, Wis.
